CATACLYSM BABY, a novella, forthcoming in 2012

I'm very excited to finally be able to post this news: My next book, a novella-in-stories titled Cataclysm Baby, will be published in 2012 by J.A. Tyler's Mud Luscious Press, alongside books by Ken Sparling, Robert Kloss, and Gregory Sherl. More details will follow at a later date, but here's the basic pitch: Cataclysm Baby includes twenty-six post-apocalyptic parenting stories, all narrated by fathers, each revealing some different family, some new end of the world.

Some of you may already have read parts of the book, as most of the stories within have been previously published in magazines including American Short Fiction, Ninth Letter, Unsaid, Sleepingfish, Annalemma, Puerto del Sol, The Literary Review, Gargoyle, and Guernica, among others.

Obviously, I'll have much more to reveal about Cataclysm Baby as the April publication date gets closer, but for now I wanted to mention that MLP is running a deal where you can "blind" subscribe to their 2012 catalog for just $40, getting all four books as they're released. (Once blurbs, covers, and excerpts are posted, it'll cost a little more.) Of course, you'll also be able to buy the book individually when it's released, but I hope you'll consider subscribing now. Personally, I'm looking forward to all of these books, especially because I've read one of them already: I was lucky enough to read Robert Kloss's novel The Alligators of Abraham in an earlier version, and it's one of the best books I've read this year.

Thanks so much to J.A. Tyler at MLP for accepting Cataclysm Baby: I know it's in good hands, and I'm looking forward to working with him over the next year as we put it out into the world.
